Salary – $35,000-45,000 entry level, $46,669 average, $22-28/ hour or $42,000-$53,000 for an individual with bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work with a few years of experience

Duties
- Perform as a counselor to provide assistances to clients who face social and personal challenges, and advise programs and plans to develop skills to overcome those issues
- Refer to an agency to receive financial assistance, legal assistance, medical, housing and other services
- Evaluate social services and programs, research community development and develop or advise on social programs and policy legislations
Pre-requisites
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in social work or services.
- Some provinces require completing a provincial written and oral examination and registration with the government body.
- Use of the job titles “social worker” and “registered social worker” is regulated in all provinces.
- Often required to be a membership in a provincial association of social workers.
